CAN INTERNATIONAL
WHAT DO WE DO? WHY DO WE DO IT? HOW DID WE BEGIN?
OUR STORY
CAN International was created to help guide immigrant children through the college application process in the United States. The seed for CAN was sown in 2016 by a group of alumni from John Dewey High School’s Bilingual program, which was formerly named after their revered high school teacher Mr. CT Chan. He noticed that immigrant students faced many challenges including a lack of understanding of American culture, English, and the education system. The college application process is one of the most crucial parts of education, but these students lacked adequate preparation for the SATs, personal essays, and their future careers.
Since this discovery, CT has helped over 500 students in over 20 years unleash their potential and achieve success. CAN International now continues his legacy by leveling the playing field and extending the same opportunity to the many generations of immigrant youths. CAN International does this by providing immigrant youth with advisory services, soft skills training, and networking opportunities.
